Ayrshire College has been successful engaging with industry and implementing innovative solutions to meet its needs, particularly in emerging technologies.
Developed in response to the growing number of wind turbines in Ayrshire, the Wind Turbine Technician Diploma was created to train the future maintenance workforce. With the support of partners the course has been a great success and most of the students have jobs in this industry.
As a result of its successful Aerospace Skills Forum, Ayrshire College launched Scotland’s only Composite Materials Training Centre in April 2014. The Aerospace Skills Forum was created by Ayrshire College as an industry focused group to proactively assess the training needs of local and regional employers in the aircraft industry. The college now delivers composite courses to major employers including Flybe, British Airways, Ryanair and Spirit Aerosystems to meet their training needs.
